so

I am still doing my clean eating.  Hit a little bump in the road.  I was at my bro’s last week. We ended up ordering Mexican.  I went with my usual, Nachos with shredded chicken, beans, cheese, pico de gallo and sour cream - I really have a soft spot for those nachos.  I haven’t been eating too many dairy products and well, you guessed it, the cheese and sour cream were a bit heavy on my tummy.  I have also eliminated fried foods, so I felt really yucky after eating fried chips.

I have a new approach to food and eating. I really want to make most of the food I consume myself - because when you make your own stuff you add the secrete ingredient - LOVE. There is a major difference when you eat home cooked meals - for me at least - I feel warm and whole.  I know most people have argued with me that cooking at home takes effort, time and money.  I have to say… I grew up in a home where we ate home cooked meals six days out of the week, and both parents worked full time jobs. So, it is possible and from my experience more cost effective.

The key is to plan, keep a weekly menu in mind and stick to your grocery list when shopping.  You buy what you need, use the ingredients you buy and have leftovers for those days you really can’t be bothered to turn on the stove.

I’ve been doing this and let me tell you - I never starve. Eat great. Feel great. In the process I’m learning so much about food and what it does to my body and my soul. Okay I will end the cheese factor with that. ;)

I have always believed that cooking can be simple, fun and therapeutic. So I encourage everyone to try it. It’s easier than you think.
